According to Jouko Hautala, Technology Director of PR Pulping Oy, wet-strength paperboard is seldom even considered as fibre loss.
“According to our analysis, wet-strength paperboard can be fiberised using a pulper with a rotor, but not in a drum pulper. Wet-strength paperboard just needs a longer pulping time and sufficient mixing capacity. In the currently available pulping lines equipped with rotors, the fiberisation time is too short and the mixing efficiency of the drum pulper is too low. The SimplyOne concept, on the other hand, achieves both of these objectives,” Jouko Hautala explains.
Energy- and space-efficient and easy to use
User experience has shown that in addition to the high fibre yield, SimplyOne brings many other benefits. SimplyOne is scalable and utilises uncomplicated technology, which makes it energy efficient and allows it to be installed in small spaces. What is more, SimplyOne has low running costs. This also shortens the payback period of the investment.
Pankaboard Oy, a manufacturer of special cartonboard, was able to eliminate the use of live steam in pulping by introducing the SimplyOne system. In addition to the elimination of steam, the company has made considerable savings in maintenance and energy costs, as well as in fibre yield.
“SimplyOne is an ingenious but simple solution that has attracted widespread international interest on several continents. In the traditional processing of recycled fibres, for example, the fiberisation of raw materials, centrifugal cleaning, coarse screening, reject washing and heavy particle separation each take place in separate units. In the SimplyOne process, all the steps are performed in one horizontal tank, meaning that you only need one machine for several tasks,” Göran Antila, CEO of PR Pulping, says, explaining the way SimplyOne works.
